Trail Construction:
The west bank trail from I-44 to the Pedestrian Bridge has been closed as part of the ongoing trail construction project. It is anticipated that this portion will be closed for several months.
The trail from 58th to 71st Street along Riverside Drive has been paved and is now open for use while final landscaping and construction takes place. Users are urged to exercise caution when traversing this area of the park due to the use of heavy equipment.
It is necessary to leave a gap between 48th and 58th due to the I-44 widening project and the City’s sewer line project south of I-44; otherwise, the new trail would be impacted and possibly damaged due to those projects.
Our entire trail renovation project spans over three years and includes both sides of the river from 11th to 71st Streets. All the trail renovation projects to date have been funded by the George Kaiser Family Foundation ($12.4 million), although there will be one of the future west bank segments that is funded through the City of Tulsa's Third Penny Sales Tax program ($2.9 million).
Attention Cyclists! Each Wednesday during daylight savings time, upwards of 300 cyclists converge at 23rd and S. Some ride a 16 mile route that includes the Sand Springs "Katy" Trail. Others ride more than 30 miles. Participants may park at the River West Festival Park (site of Oktoberfest). Public restrooms at the amphitheatre will be open from 4:30 p.m. to approx. 9:30 p.m. Groups form as early as 4:30 p.m. The largest group leaves around 5:30 p.m. See you there!
